What is the Stantonian Association of Interesting People?

My friends, this blog is dedicated to those men and women who go out of their way to be remarkably interesting. In other words, all of those fascinating Stanton students (or, in the rarest of cases, students from other schools) can join this blog to appreciate creative writing developed by us students. I, Braden Beaudreau, the creator of this blog, will post my past, present, and future works on this website, and those who join and comment will get the same opportunities. May all of you live in happiness and peace, and never forget: being interesting is the only way to stand out from the masses.

The Tide

One summer day I was caught in the tide.
A wave socked me in the stomach,
Lost in a world with no gravity
I wrestled with the concept of nothing,
Bending to the curve of every spiral
Of a deeper plunge down.
Bellowing clouds of sand
Smoothed me into
a pulp of confusion.

I think I hit the bottom somewhere
And in the deep I found a hope
That there must also be an up
Where the rays of light breaking through foam
Could warm this hollow chill.

So I let go
Of treading water,
Fighting nothing
That was somehow everything
And more than I could ever hold,
Cursing commandeering currents.

I washed upon the shore with
Skinned knees and seaweed hair
The sun baking water upon my face
And remnants of tide whispering goodbye
Over the shells that cut me clean,
To find the truth of all I've missed.

  1. I really enjoyed this. Very good choice of imagery; it was well developed.

  2. Like +1.

Its very pleasant reading somehow... I think its because we've all been hit by a wave, this poem brings back the memories very easily.... yet, I think if there is any other meaning about the imagery, it might be a little watered-down by the prevalance of the imagery.
