She looks at him and wonders
Why his eyes stay so bright
While her heart seems to deaden,
Shouldn’t his seem contrite?
“Are you listening, Peter?
I don’t want to stay
In this fantasy still…
Be a child in this way…”
He still looks at her fondly,
A smile on his face.
“Wendy, I know you’re joking!”
Her mind starts to race.
Should she take back her decision?
Can she change her mind?
If she continues her searching,
Then maybe she’ll find
The identity she feels
She’s lost in this land
As he watches her ponder
He smiles, takes her hand
Tells her, “Wendy, I feel
What you ‘re thinking of too.
I don’t say it, I know…
But believe me, it’s true.
But what makes you think…
I mean, aren’t you scared?
You won’t find what you want
All alone, and out there!”
Now she looks at him, feels
Herself smile, her mind slow…
“Pete, I know what you’re doing!”
But she can’t seem to go…
Then she sees a glimmer
The dust catches her eyes
As she yanks her arm free:
“Pete, don’t fill me with lies!”
As her tears start to drop,
Peter falls to her knees…
“Wendy, you can’t be mad-
And you know-WENDY, please!
That’s just not how it works,
You know it wasn’t me…
The dust only tells you
What you want to see!”
She bites her lip as she
Looks down at his hand…
“I know I want to stay,
But I can’t, Mr. Pan.”
“Don’t call me that!”
Peter looks down at the floor.
She turns around slowly,
Reaches out for the door…
But she pauses, looks back
As if she doesn’t know…
He asks sadly. “Wendy…
Are you going to go?”
What is the Stantonian Association of Interesting People?
My friends, this blog is dedicated to those men and women who go out of their way to be remarkably interesting. In other words, all of those fascinating Stanton students (or, in the rarest of cases, students from other schools) can join this blog to appreciate creative writing developed by us students. I, Braden Beaudreau, the creator of this blog, will post my past, present, and future works on this website, and those who join and comment will get the same opportunities. May all of you live in happiness and peace, and never forget: being interesting is the only way to stand out from the masses.
