“Love.” Did I let it slip?
Uncomfortable with that, are we?
Consider it fodder for awkwardness, your despicable pet.
You sicken me
With that smug chuckle.
Laughter better suits the sincere.
Shed the cloak of artificiality.
Stop hiding
Behind this cloth of your creation.
I much prefer your face to this mask,
Sheer, solid, porous, impermeable.
Let me in
To that brilliant world you call a mind.
Let me feel the tremors of your heart.
Give me a chance to knock on its door,
Invite me
To stay awhile, take a seat, observe,
As glimmers of faces, whispers of words
Loosen my grip on reality.
You make me dizzy
With the beats of your passion.
Spiraling helplessly, a victim of hope,
I pray to the foggy heavens that you may
Find my dreams, hidden in your eyes.
What is the Stantonian Association of Interesting People?
My friends, this blog is dedicated to those men and women who go out of their way to be remarkably interesting. In other words, all of those fascinating Stanton students (or, in the rarest of cases, students from other schools) can join this blog to appreciate creative writing developed by us students. I, Braden Beaudreau, the creator of this blog, will post my past, present, and future works on this website, and those who join and comment will get the same opportunities. May all of you live in happiness and peace, and never forget: being interesting is the only way to stand out from the masses.
There is so much I love about this poem, I can't even decide on a favorite line. Very Good :]
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this one a lot.
ReplyDeleteI quite like it. My favorite thing is how the end line of each stanza flows straight into the next one. The brevity is compelling in such lines.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys :)
ReplyDeleteLove this! Especially the last three stanzas.
