Take flight!
Everything rushing all around
me. I run and run and run
But never can escape.
To arms!
I fire everything I've got
As fiery blasts explode brightly,
Surrounding, consuming me in flames,
But leave no visible mark.
En garde!
I swing a mental rapier,
Slashing this way and that
In the impenetrable darkness that surrounds me
And yet I hear no clang, feel no resistance-
Just steel through empty air.
I try to run again,
But never fast enough,
For I cannot escape the the thought
Of you.
What is the Stantonian Association of Interesting People?
My friends, this blog is dedicated to those men and women who go out of their way to be remarkably interesting. In other words, all of those fascinating Stanton students (or, in the rarest of cases, students from other schools) can join this blog to appreciate creative writing developed by us students. I, Braden Beaudreau, the creator of this blog, will post my past, present, and future works on this website, and those who join and comment will get the same opportunities. May all of you live in happiness and peace, and never forget: being interesting is the only way to stand out from the masses.

Pretty darn good for a guy who spurns unrhymed poetry. I love the parallelism of the first lines of each stanza, very clever. the third stanze is my favorite. great piece on the whole.
ReplyDeleteYes.. we're all going on a free verse streak. This is great, and we are all just a brilliant bunch here. I couldn't have asked for a better group of writers to come together on this blog.
ReplyDeletei couldn't agree more
ReplyDeleteI like the feel of urgency that pervades the entire piece. It doesn't build to the climax; it pushes towards inexorably from the very start. And I'm with Braden.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pwnage of powerful imagery flinging me forward, yet nowhere.
